Celery

Celery

This crunchy cooling vegetable has many benefits.  It can help improve digestion, purifies the blood, can help with vertigo and nervousness.  It can also be beneficial for eye inflammations, burning urine, blood in the urine and acne.  Also can help reduce headaches and excessive appetite.

It is very low in calories so is great to eat raw between meals when trying to loose weight.  Also it takes more time to chew so it can slow you down when its combined in meals.

Celery juice combined with lemon juice is a good remedy for the common cold when fever is present.  This combination or just celery juice on its own can be useful as a daily juice for diabetics too.

Celery can help renew joints, bone, arteries and all connective tissues so can be used for inflammations such as rheumatism, arthritis, gout and nerve inflammations.

Both the stalks and the roots can help treat high blood pressure and is a good/safe remedy for pregnancy associated high blood pressure.

Celery is high in silicon, sodium, potassium, good fibre, some calcium, folic acid and high in Vitamins A and C.  It contains some great phytonutrients too such as luteolin, rutin and quercetin.

A freshly squeezed juice is never complete without celery…if you ask me!  Yum!
