Home-made Tahini

Home-made Tahini

1 cup sesame seeds

2 Tablespoons to ½ cup olive oil or coconut oil

1 cup sesame seeds makes approximately 2/3 of a cup of tahini

  1. Roast sesame seeds in a frypan lightly on a low heat for 10 minutes toasting them only, don’t allow to darken.  Watch them very carefully.
  2. Allow to cool, then add to the bowl of a food processor along with 2 tablespoons of oil to start with.   Or you can use a mortar and pestle.
  3. Pulse until a paste forms, scrapping down the sides and adding more oil until its the consistency you would like.

May be a bit rougher than store bought and not as smooth.
