Garlic
Garlic
A member of the onion family, garlic is the most pungent and has many healing properties such as promotes circulation and sweating, removes abdominal obstructions and stagnant food, inhibits the common cold virus as well as other viruses and micoorganisms, eliminates worms and yeasts and promotes the growth of healthy intestinal flora.
Garlic also eliminates toxins from the body. For the common cold, sore throats or sinus headaches hold a clove of garlic in the mouth for at least 15 minutes and then eat it. Eating garlic at least once daily will also ward of mozzies. Steaming garlic will remove some of the strong flavour and aroma, but some of its potency will also be lost . You can buy capsules that will dissolve lower in the digestive tract to avoid “garlic breath”.
Garlic is made up of a bulb of seeds (the cloves) which are intended for future growth of the plant. There are many phytonutrients in garlic such as quercetin and coumaric acid, but its particularly high in the mineral sulfur which is where it gets most of its therapeutic nature from.
Don’t be afraid of consuming garlic regularly as it can do so many wonderful things for your body!
