Turkey
Turkey
And no I’m not referring to the Aussie Bush Turkey! More commonly eaten in America and Canada and known for the festive season, Australia is slowly starting to think more about turkey as a meat. Its a great alternative to chicken with it being slightly higher in protein. Like chicken most of the fat is in the skin. Turkey has more zinc, iron, potassium and phosphorus than chicken with slightly lower B vitamins but still having good levels of B6 and B3. Turkey has good levels of tryptophan which help enhance mood and sleep. Turkey can be used in any way that you would normally use chicken but can dry out easier than chicken. Try to buy organic if possible – there is an organic turkey farmer in Queensland!
