Mandarins

In season in Australia between May and October (native to China), they are the perfect fruit to take with you anywhere – easier to peel and eat than an orange!  Great for the winter months being high in vitami…n C and antioxidants to help boost the immune system.  Also good source of fibre, B vitamins including folate, Vitamin A (beta-carotene), calcium, magnesium and potassium.  Interestingly they can be called tangerines but not all mandarins are tangerines.  Enjoy this fruit as is, in salads (goes well with chicken), baked into yummy healthy desserts or in stir-frys.
