Pomegranate
Pomegranate
They are in season now in Australia and some people may have seen them being used on some of the popular australian cooking shows. They have some vitamin C and potassium but are jam-packed full of antioxidants! The seeds can be added to many dishes such as middle eastern meals, salads, making a sauce from them or simply eating them as a piece of fruit or buying the pre-made juice. Be wary of the bitter yellow membrane and the fact the seeds can stain clothes and skin. Enjoy this native of Iran/Iraq while it is in season here until the end of May.
