So why does “an apple a day keep the doctor away”?  Apples are very nutrient dense and only has about 100 calories with a high percentage of fibre.  This fibre “pectin” can help remove cholesterol from the body!  The minerals apples are high in are calcium, magnesium and phosphorus and they also contain iron, zinc, B vitamins, vitamins C, and A.  An apple is like taking… a mini multivitamin.  When it comes to apples organic is very important as they are heavily sprayed and the chemcial residues stay in the skin (where all the fibre lives).  Interestingly apples can protect the lungs from cigarettes, helps indigestion and will stimulate appetite.  So “an ORGANIC apple a day should keep the doctor away”!
