Rockmelon
Rockmelon
Rockmelon is also called Cantaloupe (especially in the US). They have a lovely orange flesh and are usually quite sweet. Interestingly they always seem to appear at hotel breakfast buffets everywhere I have travelled, whether they are in season or not!
They are very high in beta-carotene the precursor to vitamin A. One quarter of a rockmelon can give you up to 3,000 IU of vitamin A. They also have good amounts of vitamin C, some B’s, phosphorus and trace amounts of iron, copper, manganese and zinc.
Rockmelon can be very cooling for the body, which is a perfect fruit to eat during summer when it is their season.
Do you prefer rockmelon or watermelon? I prefer rockmelon!
